Happy summer solstice! The day we teeter on the apex of daylight. I would like to introduce a new single - actually it's a song I wrote a while back but these things can take a bit of time to come to fruition. "Puppet Show" may come off as political but that is not my intention. Like many of my songs it is observational, and perhaps a bit nostalgic. I try to stay as close to the center as possible and view all sides (not just "both sides"). The solstice feels like a good day to do that. What I am seeing is a system that is old and failing. A political divide that is killing our society, a charade getting in the way of real progress. But this is a problem we created, and therefore we can fix it too. If us humans can just see past this little game to the big game our kids just may have a decent shot to inhabit a stable planet with a loving society. I'm not talking utopia - grief will always be here and the struggle is part of the game. I don't care what political party one attaches themselves to, what your race is or what pronoun you use. Just as the many forms of music express diversity, we should embrace diversity more within all aspects of our humanity and celebrate it (it's Make Music Day today too BTW)! For some unknown reason we are all planted on this unique little sphere and right now the ride is pretty scary. For that alone I consider everyone a warrior...give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy the light! Oh, and please enjoy the song. The mix was done by my old friend Dave Westner who is a true master of his craft.
