To the best of my knowledge (or at least in my interpretation) the story of the Tower of Babel goes like this. The people of Earth were getting too close to the heavenly kingdom (or “The Truth”) by building the Tower of Babel. Maybe their technological skills had grown out of sync with their spiritual values (hmm...that sounds familiar). But for whatever reason, the almighty God knocked the people's tower down and destroyed their means of communication by dividing their common language into several. Unable to readily communicate with each other, the people could not rebuild the tower that they believed could connect them with the eternal. This song is about how the human species may now be ready to rebuild that tower, only this time not motivated by the "quest for power" agenda that catalyzed the old biblical story. Maybe we as a species have not quite learned the lessons that were imposed upon us - they lay in the rubble of the Tower of Babel. But there remains an urgent need for global unification, for another tower to rise that will connect us as humans and represent the “oneness” of all, rather than to serve as a hopeless grasp for immortality. The common language that our ancestors thought they lost has been within our collective consciousness the whole time. That is the expression of music.
